Constraints
The designations a professional checks first: the Natura 2000 sites (ZEC and ZPE: the basis of the Avaliação de Incidências Ambientais), the mainland protected areas with their legal classification, the national inventory of classified areas (which covers Madeira and the Azores), the Ramsar sites, the water-domain servitudes (ARPSI flood extents, adjacent zones, abstraction protection perimeters and classified reservoirs) and the POOC and POAAP zoning. Does NOT include REN, RAN or PDM zoning: for a complete constraints plan, consult the municipality.

Water and coast
The water-related constraints of mainland Portugal: the drinking-water abstraction protection perimeters (immediate, intermediate and outer zones), the Water Framework Directive abstraction protected zones, the public-water reservoirs and their POAAP zoning, the POOC coastal zoning, the waste-water sensitive areas and the nitrate vulnerable zones.

Madeira and the Azores
The set for working on the islands. ICNF's and APA's national layers cover the mainland only: these are the ones that answer on the islands: Natura 2000 and the national inventory of classified areas, on Madeira, Porto Santo, the Selvagens and the nine islands of the Azores. On Madeira come the regional layers: areas of potentially significant flood risk, sea cliffs, the land cadastre (still partial), the geological map, PDM zoning, landslide and fire susceptibility, coastal risks and the Santana and Porto Santo biosphere reserves. On the Azores, the Regional Government's layers: Ramsar sites, biosphere reserves, flood-risk zones, water-abstraction protection and vulnerable zones.

UNESCO Geoparks and the geosites of the Cadastro dos Valores Naturais, with their scientific interest and degree of vulnerability, over the protected areas that frame them. For geology, geotourism, and for anyone assessing impacts on geological heritage.

Known gaps, stated plainly
What is not here, and why. These lines come from the app and are removed the day a layer ships.
- Madeira has no walking routes: the regional government publishes its map data openly through iRIG, but the levadas and veredas are not part of it.
- Pico has no trail layer either: the Azores publish eight islands and not the ninth.
- No REN and no RAN yet: the DGT publishes both openly, but they are not in the app yet. PDM zoning is the DGT's CRUS on the mainland and the regional map in Madeira; the Azores have none yet.
- ICNF and APA layers cover the mainland only. The islands are served by the European layers, and the Azores also by the regional government's own Ramsar, biosphere reserve, flood risk, drinking-water protection and nitrate layers.
