UNESCO Biosphere Reserve: an internationally recognised territory for conservation and sustainable use. Not a legal restriction in itself. Covers the mainland ONLY: the six island reserves (Corvo, Graciosa, Flores, Fajãs de São Jorge, Santana and Porto Santo) are not in ICNF's national service.
