The terms, in plain words.

Who you are dealing with
merestonemaps.com is operated by Leon Figueira, sole trader, United Kingdom; the postal address is on the Legal notice page. Subscriptions on the website are sold by Stripe as the merchant of record, which means Stripe is the legal seller, collects the payment and applies the tax for your country; Leon Figueira supplies the product. What you are buying
Merestone Worldwide is a subscription that unlocks every country's Pro layers on merestonemaps.com for your account while it is active. Prices are shown before checkout, include VAT where it applies, and match the prices in the app. A purchase made in the App Store and linked to your account works here for as long as Apple keeps it in force: if Apple refunds or revokes it, it stops working here too. The website is a companion to the Merestone app. We change the service only for a valid reason, such as a publisher changing or withdrawing a dataset, a legal requirement, security, or improving the service, and never at extra cost to you. If a change affects your access more than slightly, we tell you by email in good time beforehand, and you may end the subscription free of charge within 30 days of being told; subscription time already paid for and not yet used is then refunded pro rata. If the website is withdrawn, we give at least 30 days' notice and refund in the same way. A purchase made in the app keeps working in the app either way.
Subscriptions
Merestone Worldwide is billed monthly, quarterly or yearly, in advance for each period; there is no free trial on the website. A monthly subscription renews for a month at a time until you cancel. A quarterly or yearly subscription runs first for the period you chose; after that it continues for an indefinite period, still billed in the rhythm you chose, and you can then end it at any time with one month's notice, with the part already paid for the time after it ends refunded pro rata. In the first period, and for a monthly subscription, a cancellation takes effect at the end of the period paid for. Cancel any time from your account page, or without signing in with the "Cancel your contract here" link at the foot of every page; you keep access until the contract ends, and nothing further is charged.
Refunds and problems
If something goes wrong at our end, email support@merestonemaps.com and it will be put right or refunded. Consumers have a 14-day right of withdrawal; the details and a model form are on the Right of withdrawal page. If you ask for access to begin at once and then withdraw within the 14 days, you pay a proportionate amount for the time until you withdrew, and the rest is refunded. Your statutory rights if the service is faulty are not affected. Where the law gives you more, the law wins.
Your account
Your account is your email address. Keep access to that inbox; anyone who can read it can sign in as you. You can sign out of every device, and delete the account, from the account page or from the app. Accounts used for abuse, including automated bulk requests to the map, may be closed.
The data
The layers are drawn live from each publisher's own service, under the licences named beside every layer. The publisher is responsible for the content and accuracy of its official data; Merestone displays it but does not check or change it. Merestone is decision support: boundaries and attributes should be verified against the official source before professional reliance, and no layer replaces a statutory search or a professional survey. Services run by third parties can be slow or briefly unavailable, and the site says so when they are.
Liability
We are liable without limit for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, under product liability law, and where we have given a guarantee or fraudulently concealed a defect. For slight negligence we are liable only for breach of an essential contractual obligation (one whose performance makes proper performance of the contract possible in the first place and on which you may regularly rely), and then limited to the damage typical of the contract and foreseeable when it was made. Otherwise liability for slight negligence is excluded. Your statutory rights if the digital service is faulty are not affected.
What you may do with the data
Each layer's licence, named and linked beside it (the Open Government Licence, Creative Commons, the Licence Ouverte, the Datenlizenz Deutschland, the opendata.swiss terms and the others), lets you copy the data into your own reports and re-share it if you credit the publisher as shown beside the layer. Where a publisher's terms add conditions, the layer's page states them. Merestone's own text and design are not covered by those licences.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you are a consumer elsewhere, you keep the protections of the law of the country you live in, and nothing here takes them away.
Dispute resolution
We are not obliged and not willing to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board. If something is wrong, write to support@merestonemaps.com and we will deal with it.
Purchases in the App Store
Purchases made in the Merestone app are made from Apple and are governed by Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement, not by these terms. Linking such a purchase to your Merestone account, and its use on this website, is covered by these terms.
Changes
These terms may change when the product does; a new version applies to contracts made from then on. For a subscription already running, a new version applies only if you agree to it; changes to the service itself follow the section "What you are buying". The date at the top is the current version. Earlier versions are available on request from support@merestonemaps.com.
