Carta Geológica Simplificada — Madeira (1:80 000)
What this layer shows
The geology of the island of Madeira from the Simplified Geological Map of the Islands of Madeira and Porto Santo at 1:80,000, a joint edition of LNEG and the Autonomous Region of Madeira's Regional Directorate for Trade, Industry and Energy: each geological unit with its description and approximate age. It is a simplified, regional-scale map: it helps to place a plot in context, but it does not replace a geological or geotechnical survey of the site.

Madeira and the Azores
The set for working on the islands. ICNF's and APA's national layers cover the mainland only: these are the ones that answer on the islands: Natura 2000 and the national inventory of classified areas, on Madeira, Porto Santo, the Selvagens and the nine islands of the Azores. On Madeira come the regional layers: areas of potentially significant flood risk, sea cliffs, the land cadastre (still partial), the geological map, PDM zoning, landslide and fire susceptibility, coastal risks and the Santana and Porto Santo biosphere reserves. On the Azores, the Regional Government's layers: Ramsar sites, biosphere reserves, flood-risk zones, water-abstraction protection and vulnerable zones.
