What this layer shows

The state's statutory flood areas: designated by ordinance, provisionally secured, or protected by law as a flood defence, with the river section, ordinance date and a link to the documents. § 78 WHG applies in them, including the ban on new building areas. The nationwide layer gives neither date nor documents.

The water-law side of a site: drinking-water and medicinal-spring protection areas with their zones, designated flood plains and flood hazard maps, Saxony’s flood-generation areas, and bathing waters. Flood plains designated under § 76 WHG are subject to the construction safeguards in § 78 WHG, including statutory exceptions and possible approvals by the competent authority. The map does not replace the authority’s assessment of a specific proposal.
