What this layer shows
Designated and provisionally secured flood plains under § 76 WHG, compiled nationwide by the BfG from state reports (WasserBLIcK). § 78 WHG applies to both: new development areas outside built-up areas are generally prohibited, subject to statutory exceptions and approvals by the competent authority. Current designations and information from the competent water authority govern, rather than this map. Coverage may be incomplete where states reported little; states with their own app layer appear twice.

Wasser und Hochwasser
The water-law side of a site: drinking-water and medicinal-spring protection areas with their zones, designated flood plains and flood hazard maps, Saxony’s flood-generation areas, and bathing waters. Flood plains designated under § 76 WHG are subject to the construction safeguards in § 78 WHG, including statutory exceptions and possible approvals by the competent authority. The map does not replace the authority’s assessment of a specific proposal.
