What this layer shows

Risk areas outside flood areas under § 78b WHG: land that can be flooded by a rare flood, once in 200 years or less often. New buildings there should be built to suit the flood risk, and land-use plans must weigh flood protection; there is no building ban as in a flood area.

Flood plains designated under § 76 WHG are subject to the construction safeguards in § 78 WHG, including statutory exceptions and possible approvals by the competent authority. The map does not replace the authority’s assessment of a specific proposal.
