Coherent stads- or dorpsgezichten protected as a whole, together with their immediate surroundings. Unlike a monument, works here that need no permit and are visible from the public road require only a prior melding to the college van burgemeester en schepenen; if the college finds that the works disturb the essential characteristics of the gezicht, the melding is handled as an application for a toelating. Wholly or partly demolishing, erecting, placing or rebuilding a building or structure always needs a toelating from the agentschap Onroerend Erfgoed or the recognised onroerenderfgoedgemeente, and where an omgevingsvergunning is required the agency advises the permitting authority. Watch the type, because an intrinsiek gezicht and an ondersteunend gezicht do not have the same consequences, and read the beschermingsbesluit for that.
