Floodplains in Bavaria designated by ordinance, usually for the 100-year flood (§ 76(2) WHG, Art. 46 BayWG). New building areas may in principle not be designated, and building is permitted only by exception (§ 78 WHG). Shown as a map image; the ordinance is authoritative.

The water-law side of a site: drinking-water and medicinal-spring protection areas with their zones, designated flood plains and flood hazard maps, Saxony’s flood-generation areas, and bathing waters. Flood plains designated under § 76 WHG are subject to the construction safeguards in § 78 WHG, including statutory exceptions and possible approvals by the competent authority. The map does not replace the authority’s assessment of a specific proposal.
