What this layer shows

The groundwater bodies that Germany reports under the Water Framework Directive, with their European code, compiled nationwide by the BfG from the Länder's reports (WasserBLIcK). For abstractions, discharges and dewatering the groundwater body is the unit of the management objectives of § 47 WHG. The layer shows the boundary, not the quantitative or chemical status; some Länder report stacked aquifer layers.
