Ramsar-gebieden
What this layer shows
Wetlands of international importance, designated under the Ramsar Convention by royal decree of 27 September 1984 and amended by the Vlaamse Executieve in 1987. The designation obliges public policy to conserve the wetland; in practice, the assessment of an individual project runs through the Natura 2000 rules, because the sites largely coincide with them. Flanders has only a few of them, so an empty result is normal here.

What a consultancy or a notary checks first in Flanders: SBZ-H and SBZ-V with their sub-sites, VEN and IVON, Ramsar, nature reserves and natuurbeheerplannen, land-use designation and overdrukken from DSI, rights of pre-emption, protected heritage and archaeology, flood-prone land, signaalgebieden and drinking water protection zones. The rest of water, soil, land use and heritage sits in a set of its own.
