What this layer shows
Wetlands of international importance under the Ramsar Convention in Germany, from the Ramsar Secretariat's register, with the names used there (partly in English). Almost all lie within Natura 2000 sites or nature reserves; the legal protection comes from those designations. North Rhine-Westphalia, Baden-Württemberg and Hamburg have their own Ramsar layers with the Land's boundary.
