What this layer shows
House sparrow records under an open licence, drawn separately because the species disappears in a general bird layer as soon as the view fills with records. It remains a collection of individual records and not a survey: a dot says nothing about the presence of a nest, and empty space means that nobody looked there or that the record was not shared under a freely reusable licence. The majority of Dutch records fall under a non-commercial licence and are not included here, so this layer never supports the conclusion that a building or site is free of house sparrows. Where the publisher locates a record no better than a kilometre, it is drawn as a circle of that stated radius instead of a dot.

What a consultant checks first: Natura 2000, National Parks and Ramsar wetlands, the public-law restrictions from the Wkpb register, rijksmonumenten, beschermde stads- en dorpsgezichten and World Heritage, the flood defences with their protection zone from the legger, and the province's water abstraction areas, groundwater protection areas and boringsvrije zones. Nature
