What this layer shows
Vascular plant records under an open licence, the densest and most evenly spread layer in the Netherlands and usable to gauge the quality of a site in broad terms. It is a map of records and not a vegetation map: where cover is dense you see at most three hundred records per view, and empty space means that nobody looked there or that the record was not shared under a freely reusable licence. A large part of this layer comes from vegetation relevés by a single research institution, which shapes the spread, and records under a non-commercial licence are not included. Where the publisher locates a record no better than a kilometre, it is drawn as a circle of that stated radius instead of a dot.

For the quickscan natuur and the natuurtoets: the Natura 2000 sites split by Habitats Directive and Birds Directive, so that for each site you can see under which directive the conservation objectives apply, together with the Nationale Parken, the Ramsar wetlands and, at sea, the fisheries measures in the North Sea. The Natuurnetwerk Nederland is not yet available as a national layer; consult the provinciale omgevingsverordening for that.
