Saxony's register of biotopes protected by operation of law under § 30 BNatSchG and § 21 SächsNatSchG, with some 70,700 polygons. Protection arises by law from the actual condition of the land, not from the entry in this register: a biotope not listed here can be protected, and a listed one can have lost the condition that protected it.
