What this layer shows
Saxony's floodplains and peatlands as a single continuous layer. Both are carbon stores and at the same time the habitats most affected by drainage; the layer underpins rewetting and floodplain programmes and is a strong indication of organic soils, with the ground conditions and foundation consequences that follow.
