Hamburg's mapped peat soils from the specialist plan on soils worth protecting, with soil type, peat thickness, substrate, origin and current use. Peat soils store a lot of carbon and are sensitive to drainage and building. The layer carries no protected status of its own; the protection field names an overlapping protected area.
