Flachmoore von nationaler Bedeutung
What this layer shows
Fens of national importance under the Fens Ordinance. Like the raised bogs they are protected by Art. 78 para. 5 of the Constitution: installations and changes to the ground are excluded unless they serve protection or the existing agricultural use. The objects are to be preserved intact; the cantons make sure the management, usually a late litter mowing, matches the protection objective, and set buffer zones that are not on this layer.

Federal inventories
The inventories of national importance a project is measured against: BLN, floodplains, raised bogs and fens, mire landscapes, dry grasslands and amphibian breeding sites, with the hunting-ban areas, bird reserves, forest reserves, wildlife rest zones, Emerald and Ramsar sites and Pro Natura's reserves. The basis of every environmental assessment under the NHG.
Environmental assessment
Where an environmental consultancy starts a site assessment: the federal biotope inventories, forest reserves and wildlife rest zones, the state of the rivers, wildlife corridors and amphibian crossing sites, the sites of threatened mosses, and the groundwater protection zones, hazard map and polluted-site registers of the cantons that publish them openly.
Farming and biodiversity
Biodiversity promotion areas at quality level II and in networking projects, crop rotation areas, and the dry and wet habitats that depend on farming to survive: dry grasslands and fens of national importance.
