What this layer shows

Signaalgebieden are as yet undeveloped areas with a hard land-use designation for which the Flemish Government has set a follow-up track because of the risk of flooding. The category shows which track was chosen, a bouwvrije opgave or a verscherpte watertoets. With a bouwvrije opgave, omzendbrief OMG/2022/1 means a holding policy already applies: the permit authority refuses or advises unfavourably on the basis of the watertoets, pending rezoning through a RUP or designation as a watergevoelig openruimtegebied. With a verscherpte watertoets the designation stays, but additional conditions are imposed when an application is assessed.
