Areas of High Landscape Value
What this layer shows
Areas of High Landscape Value scheduled under the planning law (Government Notice 400 of 1996): ridges, cliffs, valleys and the Victoria Lines, as Malta reported them to the European Environment Agency. Development that harms the landscape character is normally refused; the Planning Authority's local plans and SPED set the policy.

Merestone asks this service live for the area on screen. Nothing is copied or stored beyond a short cache.
This layer is drawn from the European Environment Agency's annual return of what Malta reports, not from a live service of the national body itself. A boundary changed this year appears here when the next return is published.
