What this layer shows

The cantons' hazard maps in synoptic form: for each area, the highest hazard level across flooding, landslide, rockfall and avalanche: high, medium and low hazard and residual hazard. The cantons produce the maps under forestry and flood-protection law and take them into account in structure and land-use planning; in high-hazard areas new buildings are as a rule excluded, in medium-hazard areas possible only with conditions. Hazard maps mostly cover settled areas. Included: the cantons of AG, AI, AR, BE, BL, FR, GE, GL, GR, JU, LU, SH, SO, SZ, TG, TI, VS, ZG and ZH; cantons whose terms of use do not allow use in this app, or that do not publish the data openly, are not included. For the canton of Graubünden's data: “No warranty is given as to the correctness, accuracy, currency or completeness of the published information.”

Environmental assessment

Where an environmental consultancy starts a site assessment: the federal biotope inventories, forest reserves and wildlife rest zones, the state of the rivers, wildlife corridors and amphibian crossing sites, the sites of threatened mosses, and the groundwater protection zones, hazard map and polluted-site registers of the cantons that publish them openly.

Water and natural hazards

Groundwater protection zones S1 to S3, Sh and Sm, protection areas, water protection areas Au and Ao and inflow areas, river space, then the hazard and hazard indication maps, the natural event register and seismic subsoil classes: with bathing waters and the ecomorphological state of the rivers.
