Natura 2000 and protected natural areas
Natura 2000 sites (SCI/SAC and SPA), national and natural parks, scientific and nature reserves, natural monuments and Ramsar sites. The free starting view. Always check the declaring act and the management plan.
8 layers
International sites and the Danube Delta
UNESCO natural World Heritage, biosphere reserves, Ramsar sites, the transitional and coastal water bodies on the coast and the Natura 2000 sites around them.
4 layers
Habitats and species
Peat-bog habitats, the distribution and range of species of Community interest from the Article 17 report and Buxbaumia viridis, with the Natura 2000 sites. A starting point for an appropriate assessment.
3 layers
Floods and water
Flood hazard maps for the 10%, 1% and 0.1% probabilities, embankments and dams, drinking-water abstractions, surface water bodies, rivers and lakes. What a project in the Danube basin checks first.
8 layers
Geology and groundwater
The geological map at 1:200,000 and 1:1,000,000, mineral occurrences, phreatic and deep groundwater bodies and drinking-water abstractions. For geotechnical studies, boreholes and siting foundations.
5 layers

Known gaps, stated plainly
What is not here, and why. These lines come from the app and are removed the day a layer ships.
- On the website, peat-bog habitats, species maps, drinking-water abstractions, dikes, dams and archaeological sites are in the app only: the app carries them as dated copies of the publishers' open data, which this website map cannot show yet. Ramsar sites, UNESCO areas and biosphere reserves are on the website map from Apele Române's own service; the ministry's dated copies of them are in the app only. The Ministry of Environment's map server uses an expired security certificate, so habitats in management plans are listed but cannot be opened, in the app or here, until it is renewed.
- Cadastral parcels and orthophotos are not in the app yet: the national Geoportal (ANCPI) is offline after an outage. The list of historic monuments and the forest register have no map service, and the newer flood risk maps need a login.
