What this layer shows

The coastal water bodies of the third Water Framework Directive cycle (2022), as France reported them to the European Environment Agency, with their ecological and chemical status. The water body is the reference unit for judging the effect of a discharge or a scheme. Classes run from 1 (high) to 5 (bad).

Merestone asks this service live for the area on screen. Nothing is copied or stored beyond a short cache.

This layer is drawn from the European Environment Agency's annual return of what France reports, not from a live service of the national body itself. A boundary changed this year appears here when the next return is published.

Facts shown for each feature
