British Columbia maps in the Apple apps require version 2.8, which has not yet been released.
Presets
One tap switches on a set built for a real question.
Nature protection
British Columbia, including Vancouver Island and Haida Gwaii. Provincial protected lands and CPCAD are the free starting view; compare their original categories and status rather than counting overlaps as different sites.
2 layers
Habitats
BC species and ecosystem screening. Read original observation dates, proposed/final status and quality. Generalised areas require further enquiries; empty public mapping does not prove absence.
10 layers
Forestry
BC wildlife, fisheries and old-growth constraints. Approved, proposed and non-legal planning areas remain separate. Check the relevant orders and current measures before work.
8 layers
Water
BC freshwater, fish, groundwater and historical flood context. Inventories do not establish current fish absence, stream banks or statutory setbacks. Historical flood studies are not comprehensive current hazard mapping.
10 layers
Landscape
BC land-use screening. Confirm the designation or tenure and current official decisions. These layers do not replace title, cadastral, archaeology or local-planning searches.

Known gaps, stated plainly
What is not here, and why. These lines come from the app and are removed the day a layer ships.
- Coverage is British Columbia, including Vancouver Island and Haida Gwaii. Other Canadian provinces and territories are not included.
- Public records are incomplete. Request secured species information from the BC Conservation Data Centre and review relevant EcoCat reports. Archaeology, local planning, title searches, field surveys and Indigenous consultation require separate checks. Historical flood maps are not a current flood-risk assessment.
- Contaminated-site records and land-use history need separate checks.
- BC Albers references are approximate map coordinates, not survey measurements or legal boundaries.
