Analisi dei vincoli
Le aree designate per legge che un ecologo verifica per prime: SSSI, SAC, SPA, Ramsar, National e Local Nature Reserves in Inghilterra, Scozia, Galles e Irlanda del Nord, più boschi antichi e habitat prioritari. È la prima mossa di una Preliminary Ecological Appraisal, cosa è protetto sul sito o nelle vicinanze. I siti protetti per legge si considerano di norma entro 10 km e gli inventari degli habitat entro 2 km, le linee guida non fissano distanze, quindi imposti il raggio in base al progetto.
Bosco
Tutto ciò che è bosco: l'Ancient Woodland Inventory e la sua revisione, i boschi di latifoglie, i frutteti tradizionali, i pascoli alberati e i parchi, e il National Forest Inventory. Secondo l'NPPF il bosco antico è un habitat insostituibile, quindi il suo perimetro, e se l'inventario rivisto lo ha spostato, è di solito la prima cosa che un cliente deve sapere.

Built for a botanical survey or NVC walkover: every priority grassland, heathland and the Botanical Value Map, with SSSI and ancient woodland for context. These are the habitats where the species list is the point: unimproved calcareous and acid grassland, lowland meadows, upland hay meadows, purple moor grass and rush pasture, and the heaths. Turn it on before a site visit to see which compartments deserve the most time on the ground.

The question this set answers is where a gain would actually connect to something.
