The category is young and small: most of the designated area is accounted for by stretches of the Green Belt along the former inner-German border. The underlying data is what Germany last reported to the European Environment Agency; the legally binding boundary is the ordinance held by the competent nature conservation authority.

Nationwide, the nature parks excepted.
